![]() Cheap HotelsCheap hotels and Inns, often referred to as budget hotels and private room rentals, are popular in the USA, Europe but also more and more in many parts of Asia. These cheap but comfortable places to stay are increasingly desired by Backpackers and travelers that seek cheap accommodation for a the night yet are not willing to give up completely certain standards and a degree of privacy. In cities like Rome, Prague and now also Krakow where tourism has become very intense budget hotels intent to become rather expensive when the demand for cheap hotels explodes in spring and summer. Budget HotelsSo what is actually the difference budget hotels and hostels and what is it that you can expect from a budget hotel in terms of services and amenities. Good budget hotels should always offer accommodation with en-suite bathrooms which is probably the biggest difference to private accommodation named a “hostel” or any traditional youth hostels. Having said that there are international youth hostels that have a couple of en-suite rooms mainly double but also single rooms. These little en-suite private rooms might cost something like 40 to 50 Euro in big cities like Paris and New York. You can imagine it like a small budget hotel within a much bigger youth hostel. So all will be the same for you, except the luxury of a shower in your room. HostelsIn addition to cheap hotels there is a wide range of hostels around the world. Hostels can be specified into two different categories, privately owned hostels run by a private owner and international youth hostels run by the YHA a world-wide organization that ranks youth hostels and looks after their quality services and facilities. InnsRooms in Inns are very similar to chain hotels in the 2 to 3 star category. Accommodation comes with the usual equipment of a hotel room including desk, TV, en-suite bathrooms. Inns contain double and twin bedrooms as well as single rooms. Prices obviously depend on the popularity of the destination but Inns usually charge around £50 per night per room. If you choose very popular places like London you might have to add 20% on top of it depending on the time of the year. At the same time if you planning to go to south-east Asia, India or some countries in eastern Europe you can easily find Inns for half the money. |
